mortality/aging
N |
• animals display normal longevity
|
cardiovascular system
N |
• vasculature in dermis of hindpaw is normal in mutant animals under healthy conditions
|
• exhibit 10-15% increase in the time required for atrial conduction, however the QRS complex appears normal, homozygotes do not develop spontaneous arrhythmia, and serum electrolyte levels and heart development are normal
|
behavior/neurological
• when challenged with paclitaxel treatment in the hindpaw, mutants develop a greater sensory deficit (neuropathy) than similarly treated wild-type littermates as demonstrated in a pinprick assay following high or low doses of paclitaxel
|
nervous system
N |
• primary adult DRG neurons from adult mice show normal survival under healthy conditions in culture, but do exhibit more susceptiibity to neuronal stress than wild-type neurons in culture when exposed to paclitaxel
• density of sensory axons in dermis of hind paws of mutants is not different from wild-type indicating that neuronal development is not affected by deficiency
|
• after the fourth low dose of paclitaxel, fewer sensory axons are detected in the hindpaw of mutants compared to treated wild-type, while the perfused vessel area or numbers of vascular branching points do not differ, indicating that distal degeneration of sensory nerve endings is induced by paclitaxel
|
reproductive system
N |
• animals are fertile
