• normal fasting blood glucose concentration
• 7% of heterozygous mice (n = 30) developed fatal hypothermia following a 3 h cold challenge, while none of the control mice (n = 30) were affected
• with a prolonged cold challenge (6 h), significantly more heterozygous mice developed fatal hypothermia (52% heterozygous mice vs. 21% control mice)
• with a prolonged cold challenge (6 h), an increased frequency of fatal hypothermia in females of both genotypes (67% female vs. 38% male heterozygous mice, and 33% female vs. 8% male control mice) is observed
