• myocytes exhibit an 18% decrease in mean cell size, with both the long and short axis lengths decreased
• heart weight/body weight ratio is decreased by 17% without changes in the size of other organs or overall body weight, however show no signs of heart failure or abnormal cardiac function after 1 year (J:62707)
• mice subjected to pressure overload with aortic banding exhibit an increase in left ventricle end-systolic and diastolic volumes and depressed systolic function, exaggerated cardiac hypertrophy, increased left ventricle chamber dimension, and increased cardiac fibrosis in the left ventricular wall
