• a significant increase in lambda+ B cells is observed while 25% of B cells express both kappa and lambda light chains
• B1 cells are unaffected in transgenic animals
• there are increased numbers of kappa-lambda hybrid Ig molecules and lambda-containing Ig molecules vs wild-type
• mice show significant reduction in peripheral B cell number with only ~20% of total splenocytes being B cells
• number of B220+/CD43+ pre-B cells is slightly increased
• total B220+/IgD+ recirculating B cells (naive, mature B cells) are decreased ~2-fold
• about 25% of plasma cells appear to produce simultaneously both light chain types even if the proportion of lambda-only plasma cells are observed
