behavior/neurological
limb grasping
(
J:97282
)
• clasping of the hind limbs is seen by 4 - 8 weeks of age in 70 - 80% of homozygotes
|
• fall off a rotarod sooner and do not show much improvement with repeated trials
|
nervous system
• a 2.2-fold increase in the number of apoptotic cells is seen in the ventricular zone of the embryonic cerebral cortex
|
• at E10.5 a transient impairment of nuerite extension of the glossopharyngeal, hypoglossal, trigeminal, and acousticfacial nerves is seen
• however, by E14 and E16 these nerves appear indistinguishable from wild-type and in adults morphology of the cerebral cortex, cerebellum and hippocampus is not significantly different from wild-type
|
• increase in the number of primary and secondary neurospheres formed from cells from the E14.5 ganglionic eminence or cerebral cortex
• the number of spheres that generate neurons is decreased to 0.8-fold of wild-type while the number of spheres generating oligodendrocytes and astrocytes is similar to wild-type
• in the embryonic cerebral wall continuous BrdUrd labeling suggests that the number and ratio of cells leaving the cell cycle is decreased; however the size of the postnatal brain is not different from wild-type
• in the adult brain the total number of BrdUrd-positive cells is 1.5 to 2.5-fold higher at all coronal levels than in wild-type mice
|
reproductive system
• poor reproductive performance
|
