• only small and medium-sized infiltrates develop, and become prominent only at >4 months of age
• only small, occasional infiltrates develop in pancreatic islets, associated with HEVs and stromal cell networks; more frequent in older mice
• infiltrates consist primarily of naive T cells with few T cells and contain large proportions of DCs and plasma cells, in contrast to infiltrates in Ccl19 mice which have very few plasma cells
