• isolated B cells in culture show increased spontaneous apoptosis and increased sensitivity/apoptosis to chemotherapeutic agents
• numbers of immature B cells are decreased in the bone marrow
• numbers of B cells in the spleen and numbers of pre-B, immature B, and mature B cells in the bone marrow are decreased, with greater decreases as mice age, however no differences in the number of pro-B cells
• numbers of pre-B cells are decreased in the bone marrow
• exhibit impaired activation of B cells to anti-IgM, LPS and anti-CD40
• the proliferative response of B cells to anti-IgM, LPS and anti-CD40 is impaired due to increased apoptotic death
