• at 3 weeks, number of homozygous mice is 48% of wild-type and only 29% of expected Mendelian number
• significantly fewer homozygous embryos are found at E13.5 and 14.5; dead embryos appear to have terminated sometime from E10.5 to 12.5

• many homozygous embryos and their placentas are smaller than wild-type embryos
