• endognenous glucose production (EGP) is increased while glucose infusion rate (GIR) and glucose disposal are decreased compared to wild-type
• treatment with adiponectin does not reduce plasma glucose levels in mutants compared to significant reduction observed in wild-type
• pyruvate-induced rise in plasma glucose is significantly increased in mutants
• levels of molecules involved in gluconeogenesis are increased, as well as molecules involved in fatty acid synthesis
• mice show marked glucose intolerance
• on a high fat diet, mice exhibit significantly impaired glucose tolerance
• insulin resistance index is elevated compared to Adipor1-null mice
• increased hepatic glucose production and insulin resistance in the liver is observed; potentially decreased glucose uptake and mild insulin resistance are seen in skeletal muscle
• tissue triglyceride content in liver is increased
• Irs2 tyrosine phosphorylation and insulin stimulated Akt phosphorylation are decreased compared to wild-type

liver/biliary system
• tissue triglyceride content in liver is increased
