mortality/aging
• Background Sensitivity: chimeras are on a mixed C57BL/6-129P2 background; after 1 or 2 backcrosses to 129P2/OlaHsd or C57BL/6, homozygotes are obtained at 63% of expected frequency; mice from futher backcrosses to C57BL/6 do not produce viable offspring, while offspring generated after further backcrosses to 129P2/OlaHsd mice retain partial viability

immune system
• significant differences in the mutation spectra of the V(lambda1) gene segment from single class-switched memory B cells are found compared to wild-type mice
• C to G transversion are almost absent in the coding strand in null mice, while G to C transversions are moderately decreased; A to T and C to A transversions, and T to C transitions are increased significantly in mutated V(lambda1) gene sequences from memory B cells
• number of mutations and actual mutation frequencies are similar in wild-type and null cells
|
• mice show reduced body weight and a proportional reduction in cellularity of lymphoid organs (spleen, thymus, lymph nodes, and bone marrow)
|
growth/size/body
• mice show a transiently reduced weight, without other gross abnormalities
