mortality/aging
• embryos die soon after birth

renal/urinary system
• at E11.5 and E12.5, Pax2+ metanephric mesenchyme is contracted
• in 15% of kidneys
• all mice were examined at E18.5 unless otherwise noted
• hypoplasia is accompanied by a decrease in relative kidney length
• however, the number of glomeruli is normal and no dysplasia is observed
• unilateral duplication is observed in 1 mouse
• at E12.5, relative ureteric length is decreased
• at E14.5 and E15.5, the Mullerian duct remains connected to the ureter
• at E14.5 and E18.5, ureters retains a common nephric duct and fail to descent to the bladder wall retaining a connection to the Wolffian duct
• however, the residual common nephric duct is surrounded by sparse mesenchyme similar to that surrounding a normal ureter
• common nephric duct length is normal at E11.2
• ureteric epithelium has a significantly lower relative proliferative index than in controls
• at E11.5, one of seven mice have bilateral ectopic caudal branching and 38% of ureters have abnormal branching structures
• at E16.5
• mice have megaureter
• bilateral megaureter is observed in 1 mouse
• ureters exhibit unilateral or bilateral hypoplasia

reproductive system
• gonads are malpositioned in 5 of 8 mice
• ovaries are often positioned between the adrenal glands and the kidneys
• testes are often found in the abdominal cavity at irregular positions
• uteri are malpositioned, separated laterally and end blindly
• uteri end blindly
• mice have vaginal aplasia

growth/size/body
• mice are significantly shorter

respiratory system

craniofacial

endocrine/exocrine glands
• ovaries are often positioned between the adrenal glands and the kidneys
• testes are often found in the abdominal cavity at irregular positions

digestive/alimentary system
• reduced whole intestine length

embryo
• at E13.5 the lower end of the Mullerian duct has not elongated to the bladder wall
• at E14.5, the Mullerian duct remains connected to the ureter and in some cases the common nephric duct
• at E15.5 and E18.5, the Mullerian duct has not fused laterally, are constricted and the lower end does not separate from the ureter
• at E14.5 and E18.5, ureters retain a connection to the Wolffian duct
