homeostasis/metabolism
• during hyperinsulinaemic clamp plasma glucose levels are elevated
• however, fasting glucose levels and metabolic glucose clearance are not significantly different from C57BL/6 controls
• insulin levels are more than doubled compared to C57BL/6 controls

cardiovascular system
• about a 15% increase in heart weight (normalized to body weight) compared to C57BL/6 controls
• however, unlike homozygous mice expressing Cre recombinase in muscle tissue, no signs of cardiac hypertrophy are seen

adipose tissue
• during hyperinsulinaemic clamp glucose uptake is reduced in brown adipose tissue
• however, basal glucose uptake is not significantly different from C57BL/6 controls
