• 30% of mice die following antigen challenge whereas all wild-type mice survive the same treatment

immune system
• extravasation of mast cells in pinnae treated with 1 ug IgE is increased relative to in similarly treated wild-type ears
• however, no difference is observed in ears treated with 100 ug IgE
• mice exhibit a more severe anaphylactic response at a 10-fold lower dose (2ug) of DNP IgE compared to wild-type mice
• after incubation for 7 hours with antigen, bone marrow derived mast cells release higher amounts of IL-6 than do wild-type cells

homeostasis/metabolism
