• at E8.5, some mice exhibit no turning
• at E9.5, mice have not completed turning
• at E9.5, embryonic development arrests after forming 15 somites
• at E8.5, some mice are smaller than normal
• at E9.5, mice are grossly smaller than normal
• at E9.5, mice exhibit open anterior and posterior neural tube pores
• at E9.5, mice exhibit undulating neural tubes
• 3 of 12 mice have balloon-shaped allantois that is associated with less severe vasculature abnormalities
• placenta are thinner and contain fewer erythrocytes than in wild-type mice
