immune system
• majority of T cells in the thymus express a Vbeta8.1 chain
• transgene expression favors selection of CD8 T cells almost 3 times greater than in wild-type mice
• increased selection of CD8 T cells is independent of MHC or Mtv7 alleles
• in mice expressing the Mtv7b (Mlsb) allele, the majority of T cells fail to mature due to strong interactions between the transgenic TCR and the Mtv7 allele
• skewing of the CD4/CD8 ratio from WT (1.2) to transgenic (0.6) is observed in lymph nodes
• skewing of ratio is also observed in the thymus
