immune system
• F1 offspring from crosses to C57BL/6 mice display mixed periinsulitis and insulitis
• F1 offspring from crosses to C57BL/6 mice display mixed periinsulitis and insulitis
• focal infiltration of mononuclear cells is observed in all transgenic mice, while controls and Tnf-transgenic mice do not display this

endocrine/exocrine glands
• less islets (60-65%) display infiltrating mononuclear cells than Tnf-transgenic mice (100%) at 5 months of age

Mononuclear cell infiltration in islets of Tg(Ins2-Lta)#Flv/0 mice

immune system
• apparent in transgenic animals, but not in non-transgenic littermates; some islets are partially or completely infiltrated with mononuclear cells
• 30-45% of islets in mice 1-5 months of age do not have apparent infiltration
• ~10% of islets show insulitis or periinsulitis in 1 month old mice, with 30-45% of islets affected in 5-month old animals
• apparent in transgenic animals, but not in non-transgenic littermates; some islets show interstitial accumulation of mononuclear cells around the islet capsule without obvious infiltration
