• adrenal glands are smaller due to decreased proliferation
• adrenal glands exhibit decreased compensatory adrenal growth compared to in wild-type mice when one adrenal is removed

• mice exhibit a blunted steroid response after stimulation with ACTH
• however, corticosterone response following restrained stress experiments is normal
