N normal phenotype
renal/urinary system
N
• kidney function and relative size are normal
• 40% to 50% of glomeruli are abnormal in males and 80% to 90% of glomeruli are abnormal in females
• glomeruli exhibit thickening of the lamina densa with numerous protrusions towards the podocytic side
• the number of visible capillary lumens is less than in wild-type mice

digestive/alimentary system
• smooth muscle of the colon is thickened and disorganized with abnormally enlarged spaces between muscle cells
• however, intestinal transit is normal
• smooth muscle of the jejunum is thickened and disorganized with abnormally enlarged spaces between muscle cells
• however, intestinal transit is normal

growth/size/body
• body mass index for males is 0.34 compared to 0.28 for wild-type mice
• males weigh 36+/-2.6 g compared to 29+/-5.9 g for wild-type mice and females weigh 25.7 g compared to 23.3+/-1.5 g for wild-type mice

cardiovascular system
• the number of visible capillary lumens is less than in wild-type mice
