homeostasis/metabolism
• female mice exhibit decreased insulin secretion 15 and 30 minutes after glucose injection unlike wild-type mice
• islet cells from female mice cultured in RPM1 media and 1 uM nicotinamide exhibit decreased insulin secretion in culture when stimulated with glucose compared to wild-type mice
• however, decreased insulin secretion is reversed following administration of nicotinamide mononucleotide
• fasted male mice exhibit decreased glucose levels compared to wild-type mice
• female mice exhibit impaired glucose tolerance compared to male mice and wild-type mice
• however, impaired glucose tolerance is reversed following administration of nicotinamind mononucleotide

endocrine/exocrine glands
