behavior/neurological
• high doses of cGMP analogs fail to induce mechanical allodynia
• however, low doses of cGMP analogs do induce antinociception in both mutant and wild-type mice
• increase in sensitivity in the second (10 - 60 min) and third (61-120 min) phases of the response to formalin injection
• increase in mechanical hyperalgesia following injection of either zymosan or complete Freud's adjuvant in the hindpaw

nervous system
N
• despite expression in the spinal cord and dorsal root ganglia no defects are detected in the size or morphology of these structures and the distribution of nociceptive and thermoreceptive primary afferents in the superficial dorsal horn is normal
