• mice treated with collagen antibodies do not exhibit C43 or C5a depositions compared unlike similarly treated wild-type mice

• activation of the lectin complement pathway is deficient in these mice
• C4 deposition from the sera of mice onto a mannose covered plate is much lower than from sera of wild-type mice
• likewise, C3 deposition from sera of mutant mice is also reduced
