• in a DSS-induced model of colitis, mice lose more weight than wild-type mice starting at day 5 after disease induction
• mice also have more severe diarrhea, more blood in the stool with the increased weight loss
• histological analysis revels severe epithelial lesions and crypt basal separation

• there is about a 20% decrease in the number of CD4 T cells found in the spleen
