abnormal pancreatic islet morphology ( J:136131 )
• mice exhibit precocious endocrine differentiation, converting 2.3-fold more pancreatic cells to glucagon producing cells after E11.5 than in Pdx1tm1Macd heterozygotes
• however, this conversion is not sustained later in development, and stomach and duodenal cells expressing the transgene fail to convert to endocrine cells
