N normal phenotype
growth/size/body
• increase in body weight is less than that in Lepr db mice
• early onset obesity beginning about 4 weeks of age
• rate of weight gain begins to decline after 6 weeks of age compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• increase in snout to anus length compared to wild-type mice and mice homozygous for Lepr db

adipose tissue
• fat content is increased compared to wild-type mice and mice homozygous for Lepr tm2Yli but decreased compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• at 8 weeks and 28 weeks of age body fat content in males is 7 fold and 2 fold higher, respectively, compared to wild-type controls
• at 8 and 28 weeks of age body fat content in females is about 4 fold compared to wild-type controls but about 15% lower than in mice homozygous for Lepr db

homeostasis/metabolism
• thermoregulation in response to cold exposure is slightly but significantly impaired compared to wild-type controls but improved compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• fasting serum glucose levels are significantly lower than those in mice homozygous for Lepr db
• increased levels relative to wild-type controls and mice homozygous for Lepr tm2Yli but decreased levels compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• relatively modest hyperleptinemia compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• increased compared to mice homozygous for Leprdb but not significantly different from wild-type controls
• oxygen consumption normalized to lean mass is similar to wild-type controls but decreased relative to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• oxygen consumption normalized to metabolic size is decreased by about 20% compared to wild-type controls but is still higher than in mice homozygous for Lepr db
• impaired compared to wild-type controls and mice homozygous for Lepr tm2Yli but not as bad as in mice homozygous for Lepr db
• resistant compared to wild-type controls and mice homozygous for Lepr tm2Yli but more sensitive than mice homozygous for Lepr db

behavior/neurological
• hyperphagia is less pronounced compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
• activity levels in both dark and light cycles are decreased compared to wild -type controls but increased compared to mice homozygous for Lepr db
