• increased myocytes and myofibroblasts by 10 days of dox treatment
• apoptosis is increased 12 hours after dox induction
• apoptosis peaks at 48 hours and then disappears
• airway and parenchymal fibrotic response by 2 days after dox treatment
• fibrotic response of alveolar perenchyma develops later
• lung collagen content is increased after 2 months of dox treatment
