homeostasis/metabolism
• mice fed a folate and choline deficient diet (FCD) exhibit a 40% greater reduction in the levels of S-adenosylmethionine in the liver compared to similarly treated wild-type mice
• however, S-adenosylmethionine levels in the colon are normal and normally reduced in mice fed an FCD diet
• when fed a standard diet, mice exhibit decreased concentrations of cystathionine compared to in wild-type mice
• whether fed a standard or FCD diet, mice exhibit higher levels of alpha-aminobutyric acid compared to in similarly treated wild-type mice without exhibiting an increase in levels when fed the FCD unlike wild-type mice
• C1THF synthase is decreased 50% in the kidney, liver, colon, and brain compared to in wild-type mice
• when fed a folate and choline deficient diet, mice less of an increase in the uracil content of DNA in the colon compared to similarly treated wild-type mice

growth/size/body
• at weaning and the following two weeks, mice exhibit increased body weight compared to wild-type mice regardless of diet
• however, three to five weeks after weaning mice weigh as much as wild-type mice
