cardiovascular system
• tamoxifen-treated mice exhibit increased radial length (1.5-fold), vascular density (1.6-fold), vessel diameter (1.9-fold), endothelial cell proliferative activity (2.0-fold) and sprouting activity (1.8-fold) compared with control mice
• 2.4-fold decreased vessel leakage following oxygen-induced retinopathy in tamoxifen-treated mice

vision/eye
• tamoxifen-treated mice exhibit increased radial length (1.5-fold), vascular density (1.6-fold), vessel diameter (1.9-fold), endothelial cell proliferative activity (2.0-fold) and sprouting activity (1.8-fold) compared with control mice
• following oxygen-induced retinopathy, mice exhibit decreased avascular area, neovascular tuft area and increased pericyte coverage in the superficial layer with more densely networked vessels in the central and middle regions of the deep layer, 2.4-fold decreased vessel leakage and 8.6-fold decrease in multifocal hemorrhages compared with control mice

nervous system
• 1.3-fold increase in GFAP+ cell densities in tamoxifen-treated mice
• however, the number of Pax2+ astrocytes is normal

homeostasis/metabolism
• following oxygen-induced retinopathy, mice exhibit decreased avascular area, neovascular tuft area and increased pericyte coverage in the superficial layer with more densely networked vessels in the central and middle regions of the deep layer, 2.4-fold decreased vessel leakage and 8.6-fold decrease in multifocal hemorrhages compared with control mice

mortality/aging
• around 50% of pups die within a few hours of birth

growth/size/body
N
• surviving animals show no obvious growth retardation compared to controls

respiratory system
• muscular vessels of the lungs are abnormally dilated compared to controls; diameter of pulmonary artery in vicinity of the terminal bronchiole is around 2-fold larger than in controls
• lungs display greater number of pulmonary vessel branches than controls
• most peripheral part of pulmonary small vessels is detectable, suggesting that proximal muscular pulmonary vessels are more dilated than in controls
• density of bronchioalveolar stem cells (BASCs) per whole lung cell number is 4-fold greater than in control lungs; however, total number of lung cells in one-third of control number so BASC density is actually similar between groups
• alveolar density is about 50% of that of controls
• observed in about half of newborn animals

cardiovascular system
• muscular vessels of the lungs are abnormally dilated compared to controls; diameter of pulmonary artery in vicinity of the terminal bronchiole is around 2-fold larger than in controls
• lungs display greater number of pulmonary vessel branches than controls
• most peripheral part of pulmonary small vessels is detectable, suggesting that proximal muscular pulmonary vessels are more dilated than in controls

homeostasis/metabolism
N
• surviving animals show no difference in oxygen consumption rate from controls at rest
• exercise tolerance periods are significantly shorter than single transgenic controls
• around 50% of pups exhibit severe cyanosis and expire
• mice show defective physiological response of oxygen consumption rate to exercise compared to controls

behavior/neurological
• exercise tolerance periods are significantly shorter than single transgenic controls
