Structural defects in Tekt3tm1Zuk/Tekt3tm1Zuk spermatozoa flagella

reproductive system
N
• despite abnormal sperm motility, male mice exhibit normal fertility
• mutant sperm frequently exhibit flagellar bending (typically up to 180 degrees) at the annulus at the junction of the midpiece and the principal piece
• the percentage of motile spermatozoa is reduced compared to in wild-type mice
• sperm exhibit defective flagellar beat pattern and lack of forward progression unlike wild-type sperm
