• olfacotory sensory nerves (OSN) that fire in response to amyl acetate and heptaldehyde have prolonged response termination of their action potentials compared to controls
• OSN also have significantly reduced amplitudes with slower onset kinetics
• amplitude is about half that of controls
• increase in the response rise time is greater than that for Pde1ctm1.1Hazh homozygotes
• OSN have a "noiser" action potential background level

• mice have attenuated odor adaptation to a 10 second sustained odor stimulus that is about half that of controls
• unlike Pde1ctm1.1Hazh homozygotes, these double knockouts do not have abnormal odor adaption to short pulses of odor
