• do not show short-term (within session) habituation in an open field test
• the number of rearing bouts was reduced in an open field
• in a water maze based on poor performance during learning and probe trials
• in a water maze based on poor performance during learning and probe trials
• high-preference for spending time in the open versus closed arms and spend less time in the center of the maze in an elevated plus maze
• however, no change in thigmotactic behavior is seen in an open field
• self-grooming was seen in only 1 of 6 mice compared to 6 of 6 wild-type controls
• in an elevated plus maze more homozygotes fall from the open arms compared to wild-type controls
• fail to display the typical flat posture when walking on an elevated open arm for the first time

• significant decrease in the relative amount of GluN2A-mediated NMDAR evoked excitatory postsynaptic currents in CA1 pyramidal cells
• significant increase in the average amplitudes but average half width and frequency are similar to controls
• long term depression induced by low frequency stimulation is impaired in hippocampal CA1 pyramidal cell synapses
