• proximal apical dendrites in adults branch earlier and have more dendritic branches and increased complexity, whereas the more distal part of the dendritic tree shows less branching, indicating a shift in the length of more distal dendrites and reduction of arborization in pyramidal neurons
• increase in branching of basal dendrites is evident at P21, but is not seen in adults
