mortality/aging
• survival is less than in Tg(Tyr-BRAF*V600E)470Fgh mice dying within days or weeks of developing hydrocephalus and paralysis

neoplasm
• mice develop increased incidence of melanomas with reduced latency and decreased lifespan compared to mice with Tg(Tyr-BRAF*V600E)470Fgh
• mice exhibit metastasis to the lung and lymph nodes

phenotype observed in females
phenotype observed in males
N normal phenotype
mortality/aging
• median survival is 295 days due to development of melanoma in some mice and central nervous system involvement in others

pigmentation
• coat color ranging from normal to light
• mice exhibit benign melanocytic hyperplasia similar to nevi with abundant spindle cells in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue, frequently termed Schwannian differentiation of melanocytes
• pigmented spindle cell proliferations are identified in the retro- and peri-bulbar areas of the eye the meninges, the temporal and parietal bones of the cranium, bone marrow cavity, and in the surrounding soft tissues
• benign proliferations can be locally aggressive
• the skin of the ear pinnae and limbs as well as the dermis are hyperpigmented compared to in wild-type mice

neoplasm
• spindle cell tumors are variably pigmented with rare mitoses and exhibit Schwannian differentiation
• 10% of mice develop melanoma in the dermis, subcutis, and soft tissues with metastasis to the lymph nodes draining the region

limbs/digits/tail

vision/eye
• in some mice

integument
• coat color ranging from normal to light
