• an abnormal lymphocyte population accumulates in the periphery with age
• the population lacks surface markers of T cells except Thy1 and ECFP expression
• a subset of these cells with low expression of Thy1 appear to be NK cells while the rest appear to be derived from a T cell lineage
• the population also has rearranged TCR gamma segments at 3 weeks of age and rearranged TCR delta segments at 52 weeks of age
• the rearrangements appear to be random with only 1 of 5 being productive
• an abnormal Th1+ECFP+ lymphocyte population accumulates in the periphery with age
• in mice over 1 year of age, rearranged TCR Vdelta4 and Vdelta5 gene segments are detectable
• an abnormal Thy1+ECFP+ lymphocyte population accumulates in the periphery with age
• this population has TCR Vgamma to Jgamma1 rearrangements in the Cgamma1, Cgamma2 and Cgamma4 clusters
