• at 10 days after challenge with unilateral ureteral obstruction (UUO), mice exhibit aggravated kidney interstitial fibrosis with significantly higher levels of Collagen-1 deposition and abundance of alpha-smooth muscle actin (alpha-SMA)-positive fibroblasts relative to UUO challenged wild-type controls
• however, kidneys appear unchanged under baseline conditions
