• dox-treated mice develop increased white adipose tissue in all depots, including the inguinal, interscapular, perigonadal, perinephric, and interscarpular adipose tissues but not brown adipose tissue

• 6-month-old doxycycline-treated mice show decreased performance on the rotarod test and the two-limb hanging test in response to fasting, but not in the fed state

• isolated mitochondria from skeletal muscle shows reduced oxidative phosphorylation complex III (CIII) activity
• cytochrome c production in isolated mitochondria is reduced to 54% of wild-type
