N
• male mice exhibit normal reproduction and normal levels of apoptosis in the testes
• female mice produce more aneuploid oocytes than wild-type mice
• primary and secondary spermatocytes are more prone to aneuploidy compared to in wild-type mice
• average time from metaphase entry to anaphase is twice as long as in wild-type oocytes
• chromosomes are misaligned during meiosis I in oocyte compared to in wild-type mice
• however, timing of germinal vesicle breakdown is normal
• 4 of 7 female mice fail to produce pups
• female mice produce an average 4-fold fewer litters with an average 15-fold lower number of pups compared with wild-type mice
• however, mice exhibit normal oogenesis and fertilization

• only 15% of embryos derived from dams form blastocysts compared with 93% of embryos collected from wild-type dams
• dams produce embryos that cease proliferating after the first cell division of preimplantation period and do not develop beyond the 4-cell stage unlike embryos from wild-type dams
• dams produce more aneuploid embryos compared with wild-type mice
