cardiovascular system
• hypertrophy in response to pressure overload is more severe than in wild-type controls
• fibrosis in response to pressure overload is more severe than in wild-type controls
• dilation in response to pressure overload is more severe than in wild-type controls
• following 6 weeks of pressure overload, cardiac dilation, hypertrophy, interstitial fibrosis, and contractile impairment are more severe relative to similarly treated wild-type controls
• after pressure overload capillary density is significantly lower in mutant hearts compared to wild-type controls
• in the absence of stress overload no gross abnormalities are detected
