• in the absence of deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment heart morphology and blood pressure are similar to wild-type mice
• unlike in wild-type mice deoxycorticosterone acetate does not induce an increase in left ventricular perivascular fibrosis
• interstitial fibrosis induced by deoxycorticosterone acetate is reduced compared to wild-type mice
• increase in left ventricular weight induced by deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment is significantly less than in similarly treated wild-type mice
• heart rate is slightly but significantly lower at baseline compared to wild-type controls
• however, increase in heart rate in response to deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment is similar to wild-type mice
• attenuation of reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction and progressive enlargement of end-systolic and end-diastolic left ventricular internal diameters in response to deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment compared to wild-type mice

homeostasis/metabolism
• attenuation of reduction in left ventricular ejection fraction and progressive enlargement of end-systolic and end-diastolic left ventricular internal diameters in response to deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment compared to wild-type mice
• attenuated cardiac changes in response to deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment although the level of systolic hypertension is similar to wild-type controls
• renal damage induced by deoxycorticosterone acetate treatment is similar to wild-type mice
