cellular
• at 24 hrs and 48 hrs after partial hepatectomy, hepatocyte proliferation is significantly lower than in similarly treated wild-type controls, as measured by CD1 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and Ki67 staining

homeostasis/metabolism
• after partial hepatectomy, serum ALT levels are significantly higher than in similarly treated wild-type controls
• after partial (70%) hepatectomy, mice fail to show a significant increase in total hepatic zinc levels, unlike similarly treated wild-type controls
• however, no differences in hepatic zinc levels are observed prior to hepatectomy

liver/biliary system
• at 24 hrs and 48 hrs after partial hepatectomy, hepatocyte proliferation is significantly lower than in similarly treated wild-type controls, as measured by CD1 and proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) expression and Ki67 staining
• after partial (70%) hepatectomy, mice fail to show a significant increase in total hepatic zinc levels, unlike similarly treated wild-type controls
• however, no differences in hepatic zinc levels are observed prior to hepatectomy
• at 5 and 7 days after partial hepatectomy, mice have a significantly lower liver/body weight ratio than similarly treated wild-type controls
• mice display reduced hepatic zinc accumulation and hepatocyte proliferation in response to partial (70%) hepatectomy
