immune system
• about a 2 fold increase in frequency in epidermal sheets compared to wild-type controls
• cells are larger and have longer, more delicate dendrites
• impaired migration of Langerhans cells from skin explants
• at 36 h, but not at 18 or 48 h, after application of TNCB to the ear skin the number of activated Langerhans cells is increased about 2 fold indicating a defect in the ability of these cells to exit the epidermis
• strikingly fewer Langerhans cells are found in the skin draining lymph nodes at 96 and 120 h after hapten application
• ear swelling is increased about 2 fold and the duration of the response is prolonged following treatment and challenge with 2,4-dinitrofluorobenzene
