• higher cortical mineral content at 10, 16 and 20 weeks of age in male and female mice
• higher cortical mineral density at 16 and 20 weeks of age in the tibia of male and female mice

• enhanced anabolic effect (increase in periosteal bone volume) compared to wild-type controls
• at a strain rate of about 17,500 muepsilon/second a significant increase in bone volume is seen in ulnas from mutant mice but not from wild-type mice
• similar loads result in lower strain indicating that the bones are stiffer
