• severe cell-autonomous mammary ductal outgrowth defect with increased apoptosis
• dams exhibit less expansion of secretory terminal alveoli (thicker epithelium with sparser and less expanded alveoli, smaller alveolar cavities and large areas of adipose tissue) that fail to fill the fat pad compared with wild-type dams
• dams exhibit reduced milk accumulation in alveolar lumens compared with wild-type dams
