nervous system
• after 1 h MCAO followed by 1-7 d reperfusion, mice show more severe sensorimotor dysfunction with significantly increased touch time and removal time (adhesive tape removal test), increased fault steps (foot fault test), and less balanced use of both limbs (cylinder test) relative to wild-type controls
• after 1 h MCAO followed by 24 h or 72 h reperfusion, mice show increased mRNA and protein levels of the proapoptotic factor BCL2-like 11 (aka Bim) in the cerebral cortex relative to wild-type controls
• after transient middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) for 1 h followed by 24 h reperfusion, mice exhibit a larger cerebral infarct volume and significantly more severe neurological deficits in response to ischemic insults than wild-type controls
• after transient MCAO for 1 h followed by 24 h reperfusion, mice exhibit a larger cerebral infarct volume than wild-type controls
• after 1 h MCAO followed by 24 h or 72 h reperfusion, mice show significantly increased mRNA and protein levels of the proinflammatory cytokines E-selectin, MCP-1, and IL-6 in the cerebral cortex relative to wild-type controls

homeostasis/metabolism
