• heparin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate levels in mouse embryonic fibroblasts, liver and brain are higher than in wild-type cells and tissues

• heparin sulfate and chondroitin sulfate sulfation in MEFs is lower than in wild-type cells

• however, sulfation in the brain and liver is normal
