Abnormal axial skeleton morphology and short tail in Scs/+ mouse

skeleton
• fused or bifurcated ribs can be found
• compressed, shortened, sometimes crooked or kinked spine and tail
• intervertebral discs are sometimes missing or herniated
• cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae can be compressed, misshapen, and irregularly aligned and misaligned vertebrae can be fused resulting in a crooked spine or tail kink
• the vertebral defects result in a compressed, shortened body length

limbs/digits/tail
