• however, none of the tumors show extrathryoidal extension, vascular invasion, or progression to poorly differentiated carcinoma

• 2-fold increase in serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) levels in both males and females
• however, serum total thyroxine, free thyroxine, and triiodothyronine levels are normal
