Abnormal, disorganized, globular phenotype in the lobes of E13.5 Fendrrtm1Vlcg/Fendrrtm1Vlcg lungs

mortality/aging
• mice survive to birth but succumb shortly thereafter due to breathing problems

respiratory system
• mice exhibit defective structural maturation of the lungs
• at E13.5, lungs lobes appear globular and disorganized
• at E13.5, lungs are smaller than normal
• neonates die from apparent respiratory distress
