• various degrees of soft tissue syndactyly, with an incomplete separation of digits 2-3, the index and middle fingers, in the forelimbs
• penetrance of syndactyly is 93%, although severity is highly variable, with about 40% of mice showing syndactyly in both forelimbs, 29% only in the left, 25% only in the right and 7% are normal
• in males, 46% of adults show syndactyly only in the left forelimb
• in females, 48% of adults show syndactyly in both forelimbs
• incomplete separation of forelimb digits 2-3 is seen as early as E14.5
• skeletal abnormalities are not seen in the hand plates or arms
