• although there is monoallelic expression of this substution allele and the expressed receptor responds to its specific agonist, SKF81297, but not OLFR151 agonists, 58% of the olfactory sensory neurons expressing this allele have an immature phenotype, being OMP negative and GAP43 positive, and the axons fasciculate but generally fail to coalesce into glomeruli
• compared with GFP-tagged endogenous olfactory receptor 151 homozygotes, which show expression on 2928 +/- 152 olfactory sensory neurons, only 1038 +/- 14 olfactory sensory neurons express this allele, which has dopamine receptor D1 coding sequence in place of the olfactory sensor coding sequence
