behavior/neurological
N
• mice exhibit normal balance and motor coordination on an accelerating rotatrod assay and show no significant differences in the overall acoustic startle response (ASR), although females respond less to stimuli of increasing decibels than wild-type controls
• in a Y-maze assay, males show a significantly lower number of total arm entries than wild-type males at the 8 min timepoint; however, the number of spontaneous arm alternations is normal at all timepoints in both sexes
• in an elevated zero maze (EZM) test, females travel significantly less than males and strongly trend towards less total distance traveled than wild-type females
• however, time spent in the open areas of the EZM is not significantly altered, indicating normal anxiety-like behavior
• in the open field test, mice rear significantly less than wild-type controls over a 10-min period, with males more severely affected than females
• however, open field total activity, horizontal activity, and center activity are normal in both sexes

nervous system
N
• regardless of genotype, male mice show significant reductions in phospho-S6 (235/236) and p-4E-BP1 relative to female controls, indicating decreased mTORC1 signaling in male brains
• mice show a significant reduction of PPI at the 87-dB pre-pulse stimulus
• however, no differences are detected at the 78 or 81-dB pre-pulse stimuli
